"Listening to Ged Roman for the first time is like discovering one of the classic singer/songwriters of the 70's. This Venezuelan-born solo artist has a style that is a blend of 70's rock/pop with a folk base and a bit of world sound."

bio

Ged began his musical journey in Valencia, Venezuela, where his grandfather introduced him to classical music and the music of the 60’s and 70’s. He started to play guitar when he was 13. Three years later he began writing tunes and playing a studio piano his father bought him . Today, he has an entire repertoire of his own, mostly in English, but also with many songs in Spanish.  Self-taught, Ged’s style is akin to the great songwriters of the 1970’s, while having an entirely original, new sound.  He’s often been compared to superstars like:  U2, Elton John, Cat Stevens, Sarah McLachlan, R.E.M. and Supertramp.

Ged is receiving airplay on FM and internet radio in the U.S.A., the U.K., Venezuela and Japan. Three notable stations are WRPS Seattle, The Grain Division U.K., and Shonan Beach FM (Yellow Beat), Japan's most popular show for new music among youths. He is a featured artist on The Grain Division and IUMA.com. Te Amo, one of his early tunes in Spanish, made it to the air in October 99 on Latinisima 97.90 FM in Valencia, where it was played several times a day for about a year. In November 1999, he was featured live on the noon (prime time in Venezuela) TV show Conexion TV, on NCTV channel 36 in Valencia, Venezuela. Ged was interviewed and performed some of his early material. As of August 2005 Ged's new songs are being played in his native land, Venezuela. They are playing them on several major FM stations in Valencia. Among them are Capital 92.30, Latina 99.10 and Latinisima 97.90 where they are playing him up to 4 times daily. Also in Aragua State staion 103.90 they are playing some of his tunes.

The Music: Making it on the radio led to the recording of Geds first demo with producer Angel Balan in Valencia. His ambition to bring his music to a wider audience led Ged to turn down a record deal in Colombia and move to the U.S. where he has written dozens more snappy tunes and built his own studio where he records them.  On 2004, a CD with some of Ged’s songs made its way to Ron Cotton (a long-time Manager from Nashville who has worked with Garth Brooks, George Strait and Reba McEntire among others). He immediately called Ged to set up a meeting. Since then Ged has flown to Nashville on three occasions, once to meet with Ron, a second time to record a demo with Producer Mark A. Thompson and 4 top-notch musicians, and a third time on November 2005 to perform in front of 8 agents from some of the major labels (RCA, Sony, Capitol and Mercury among others) who had expressed their interest in Ged’s music after having listened to his demo.

Locally:  Ged has been fortunate enough to find 3 musicians (Guitarist, bassist and drummer) to join him on stage playing only his self-penned songs. Ged has been asked to play at North by Northwest, Fergie's Pub, Club 218, Abilene and Pontiac Grille in Philadelphia. Ged is also Producing artists from the North-East area in his private studio he has become well-known and sought out for his recording talents.
